ACCESS STATEMENT 2012

Transport & Location

We have approximately 80 free car parking spaces available, including 2 marked disabled places

The rooms are adjacent to the car park as is the main country pub and restaurant.

At the main entrance there is ample space to alight passengers and at the very bottom of the car park there is an area for coaches and large vehicles to park.

A local bus stop is situated just 10 meters from the building with a regular service to Newport City ( 5 miles,   20 minutes) in one direction and Chepstow (8 miles, 25 minutes) in the other.

The nearest shop mobility is in Newport city centre.

Main Entrance/ Reception Facilities

We open at 7am and close at approximately 12 midnight most days.

There are no steps to the main entrance of the room with an extra wide door to accommodate wheelchair uses. The main entrance to the pub has 5 steps up, but there is a ramp beside these stairs for access.

There is seating available in the reception area

We do not currently have a loop system for those who are hard of hearing.

Access to the restaurant is at ground level before entering the building. Access to the lounge area is through reception and is this is a level floor. There is also access to the lounge from the front of the building via a door.

A unisex toilet is available in the entrance area with disabled facilities

Access to the rooms and the main building are via doors which are at least one metre wid


Accommodation

We have two bedrooms that have been adapted for disabled use. The first is adapted for wheelchair users with ample space around the bedroom and a wet room with a large shower area. This includes an emergency call point and a pull cord in the bathroom. The shower has a seat and the toilet has a frame around it for use if required.

We don’t currently have the facilities for assistance dog

Room service is not supplied, but we would be happy to discuss any special circumstances

We can provide additional lighting if required.

We do not provide telephones in the bedrooms

We do provide the facility to go on line at a nominal charge.

Restaurant and Country Pub

Our Restaurant can seat up to 50 people and lounge and balcony a further 80 people

We have a large and varied menu available in Welsh and large print. Our staff would be happy to discuss the menu and any dietary requirements.

We also have a large choice of vegetarian options

You may also dine Al Fresco on our covered heated patio.

All mobile phone networks are available, sometimes in the main building ( built around 1750) the occasional wall may hinder your signal, just move a few feet to you left or right and communications are resumed.

Wireless access is available in the rooms and the pub, with a plug in facility available in the rooms. Both may carry a small charge for connection.

A fax machine is available for a small charge to send and receive.
